Myles Dakin graduated from Guy’s Hospital dental school with honours in 1989. He spent 4 years working within the NHS hospital service in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. He completed a 3-year residency at the University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio. He graduated with a Masters degree in Biological Sciences and full certification in Advanced Prosthodontics. On returning to the UK Myles passed the full Membership in Restorative Dentistry given by the Royal College of Surgeons. Myles taught at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals as well as working in private specialist practice in Harley Street. Myles founded Specialist Dental Partners in 2004 in order to provide a “walk-in” and referral centre for highest quality general and complex dentistry in the region so patients no longer needed to travel to London for world-class dental care.
Myles has been interviewed by “The Daily Telegraph”, “The Times” and “The Independent” as well as local BBC Radio and local printed media. He has pioneered minimally invasive techniques for dentistry as well as techniques improving comfort and recovery after dental surgery.
Myles’ core philosophy is to carry out the least amount of dentistry over the lifetime of each patient. This involves a strong emphasis on prevention and also viewing the teeth and mouth as a whole entity in order to prevent problems arising in the first instance. He is highly skilled in providing both general dentistry and also advanced reconstructive dentistry. He is accredited as a specialist in Prosthodontics in the UK, Europe and the USA.
His views on dental aesthetics are based on “healthy is beautiful”. This is a view that is supported by the academic research on perception of attractiveness and beauty.

He returned to London to briefly join the Department of Conservative Dentistry as a full-time honorary Clinical Lecturer. In 1989, he opened his own specialist practice and contributed to the development of the MSc in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute as a part-time member of staff. He left the Eastman in 1994 to concentrate on developing his practice but has returned to teach in a part-time capacity in 2003 as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Endodontology.

When not working with patients, she works in a charity supported centre for teenagers in Royston - the 'Open House Project'.
